Beach Blend

Anyone who spent a summer on the Lake Michigan shore has a version of the same afternoon. Sand too hot to stand on and the sprint down to the water. Somebody’s cooler, somebody’s dog. A parent calling from a blanket further up the beach. The drive home with sand on the floor of the car that stayed there until September.

Beach Blend is that afternoon in stone. The warm grays and creams come off the same shoreline where Steve’s mother would take him looking for Petoskey stones and what she called Indian beads. This is not a color applied to a surface. It is the stone itself, all the way through, and it moves with the light the way the beach does.

Which is why it behaves the way it does on a house. Against light siding it complements. Against dark siding it grounds. On a fireplace the warm tones pull heat into the room. It is the most chosen blend we make — though almost nobody chooses it off the spec sheet.
