The side of the state that gets the light first.

Two hundred miles of Lake Huron shoreline runs north along US-23, and people set alarms for it. Tawas Point, Harrisville, the long empty beaches north of Oscoda. The sun comes flat across the water somewhere around a quarter to six and the whole shore goes gold for about twenty minutes before the day turns ordinary again.

Huron is those twenty minutes. Warm tans and creams and soft golds, with enough gray running through it to keep the stone honest instead of sweet. It comes out of the limestone country sitting behind that shoreline, which is not a coincidence — the same rock that built the coast is the rock in the wall.

On a traditional or transitional house it does the thing clients struggle to ask for: it makes a new build feel like it has been standing a while. It is also the most forgiving blend we cut next to existing brick, which matters more on an addition than on anything else.
